Art History Alive
Presents
Day to Day Itinerary
for
The Amalfi Coast
October 3 - 9, 2007
All Art History Alive trips begin at our hotel in our destination city. Flights to Europe are usually overnight, so take care to book your tickets so that you arrive in our destination city on the first day of the tour. I would be happy to help you with suggestions on easy ticket purchasing, transfer options from airport to hotel, and will of course supply you with all contact information for our hotel.
Day two: After a late, sumptuous breakfast at our hotel, we will catch a train for our afternoon exploration of the ancient ruins of Pompeii. This day will stagger you on so many levels. After our return to Sorrento, and perhaps a swim in the pool. For dinner, we will wind our way down, down, past the fishermen mending their nets, past the Madonna perpetually blessing the fishing boats and their crews, to a restaurant where the waves lap at the the shore. I will have to drag you out of this place and you will not soon forget it.
Day three: After a late breakfast we will board the jetfoil for our trip to the Isle of Capri. We will wander the island and walk down to the most picturesque, Marina Piccola. This is postcard perfect Capri and breathtaking. Evening spent either in Capri or Sorrento, it will be completely up to the whim of the group.
Day four: After breakfast we will depart Sorrento by car for the spectacular one hour drive south along the coast to Positano. There we will check in to our cliffhanging hotel and start exploring.
Day five: This day will spent exploring this precious gem called Positano. It is small, so lazy mornings and napping afternoons are the best way to go. Bring a great book to read while you lounge on your balcony overlooking the see through aqua water. Here, your biggest decisions will be what to have for dinner, and would you prefer red or white?
Day six: We will move in a relaxed mode toward the pretty town of Amalfi . . . or not. I will leave this up to you. Whom ever wants to see another beautiful place can join me, however, some may feel that it cannot get any better than this, and choose to stay right in Positano. No problem. Evening in Positano.
Day seven: Farewell to the Amalfi Coast . . . . until next time. Off to the airport in Naples for our trip home.
